AR-DV1AR-DV1 FIRMWARE (SYSTEM) UPDATES

To perform the firmware (system) updates, refer to AR-DV1 Firmware Update Procedures.
To perform the update, read the following precautions and additional notes first.
If your browser does not allow download of the firmware file format (xxxx.DV2 or xxxx.DV1) then download the zipped version (.DV1 and .DV2 files included) and extract the firmware file afterwards.

PRECAUTION
  • Do not power down or pull SD card while updating.
An interruption during updating may cause a failure in data re-writing, and your AR-DV1 may stop functioning normally or cause the damage to the receiver.
  • New SD or SDHC Card (more than 128MB memory) is required.
If you use used SD/SDHC card, be sure to format the SD/SDHC card with appropriate SD card formatter, since the Windows formatter may cause incompatible format to the AR-DV1 in some case.
  • After download, extract the zip file and copy only the ".DV1" or ".DV2" firmware file onto the root directory of your SD/SDHC card.
  • Upon completion of firmware (system) update, the AR-DV1 automatically reboot the system. If no reboot is observed, turn-off the AR-DV1 by pressing the VOL knob for a while. Turn ON the AR-DV1 again to enable the new firmware (system).

IMPORTANT!
This firmware update will clear all your channel, bank and configuration memory data. It is therefore advised to make a backup on SD card as described chapter 5-2 of the user manual, and to restore this data after the firmware update.
The update procedure takes about 90 seconds to complete. Under no circumstances the update procedure should be interrupted by switching the receiver off, removing the SD card, or cutting the power! Sudden interruption of the procedure is likely to corrupt system memory and therefore brick the receiver. This action would not be covered by warranty.

There are two different files to accommodate two different PCB board versions (features & performance are the same).

For receivers with serial numbers 09523001 and higher, use the firmware with the extension .DV2
For receivers with serial numbers below 09523001, use the firmware with the extension .DV1
For USA customers with serial numbers starting with 09560xxx kindly ask to info@aorusa.com which firmware extension you should use.

As a security feature, the receiver will only display and accept firmware compatible with its PCB board version, however do NOT attempt to change the firmware’s file name or extension! Trying to force an uncompatible firmware update is likely to brick the receiver. This action would not be covered by warranty.

If you want to report a bug, kindly send your receiver's system and memory data (see manual chapter 5.2)
to mail@aorja.com with the subject: AR-DV1 bug report.
Please describe in detail under which condition the problem appears. LCD screenshots or a short video
may also be very helpful. Thanks!

Starting with this firmware version 1710C, there are two different files to accommodate two different PCB board versions (features & performance are the same).

For receivers with serial numbers 09523001 and higher, use the firmware with the extension .DV2
For receivers with serial numbers below 09523001, use the firmware with the extension .DV1

As a security feature, the receiver will only display and accept firmware compatible with its PCB board version, however do NOT attempt to change the firmware’s file name or extension! Trying to force an uncompatible firmware update is likely to brick the receiver. This action would not be covered by warranty.

The following bugs have been fixed:
- SCAN/SEARCH would often miss DMR signals when receive MODE was set to AUTO.
- DMR mode with CTCSS activated: CTCSS and color code were not displayed correctly.
- OFFSET frequency did not remain on screen after input.

The following features have been improved:
- Better audio quality when decoding voice inverted signals.
- Receiver now accepts a wider variety of SD card brands .

Note: Some users kindly informed us that with this version, the receiver sometimes does not remember settings after reboot.
Fortunately there is a work-around! Before switching the receiver OFF, it is possible to force the writing to memory of receiver
settings by F + short push on the POWER button. You will see the message [writing memory].
If it’s too much trouble, you can always conveniently revert to v.1702D until we fix that bug. Thank you for your patience!

AR-DV1 FIRMWARE UPDATE v1702D RELEASE NOTES

(c)2017 AOR, LTD.

Feb.20, 2017

This update will correct issues that some customers experienced, it also adds more functionality to the AR-DV1.
AOR is committed to the continuous improvement of its products and will post firmware updates periodically to further extend the capabilities of this receiver.

IMPORTANT!
This firmware update will clear all your channel, bank and configuration memory data. It is therefore advised to make a backup on SD card as described chapter 5-2 of the user manual, and to restore this data after the firmware update.

The following bugs have been fixed:
- CTCSS and DCS frequencies did not appear in (Digital) AUTO mode.
- Wav recordings on SD: Approx. every minute, 300ms of audio was missing from the data.
- D-STAR signal information stayed sometimes on display even though frequency has been changed.
- D-STAR would sometimes decode only when frequency set 2kHz up.

The following features have been improved:
- Wav recordings on SD now with less background noise.

The following features have been added:
- Added support for “reverse tone” squelch in CTCSS. To enable this feature, F+1 then turn the dial until [RTN] appears and validate with ENT. The frequency of the reverse tone is set in CTCSS parameters. The reverse tone squelch is a function to mute (close) the squelch only when AR-DV1 receives a frequency matching the programmed tone frequency. It unmutes (opens) the squelch when it receives a frequency which is not the programmed tone frequency. This function is not generally used in ham radio operation, but rather by some taxi and bus drivers.
-“Reverse tone” argument added for the tone squelch command “CI”. The argument is n=2.
- D-CR user code now displayed.

AR-DV1 FIRMWARE UPDATE v1609D RELEASE NOTES

(c)2016 AOR, LTD.

Sept.29, 2016

This update will correct issues that some customers experienced, it also adds more functionality to the AR-DV1.
AOR is committed to the continuous improvement of its products and will post firmware updates periodically to further extend the capabilities of this receiver.

IMPORTANT!
This firmware update will clear all your channel, bank and configuration memory data. It is therefore advised to make a backup on SD card as described chapter 5-2 of the user manual, and to restore this data after the firmware update.

The following feature has been added:
TETRA decoding:

Named “T-DM” in the mode selection menu.
Compatible Tetra mode: DMO MOBILE TO MOBILE (also called “direct mode”)
Non-compatible Tetra modes: DMO REPEATER and TRUNKING VIA BASE STATION. (These modes are under evaluation).
Command list: Tetra mode is added to the MD command as selection #8.

Please note following limitations:
-TETRA reception only works in manual mode selection. Unfortunately it cannot be part of the AUTO MODE detection mode because Tetra is very CPU intensive.
-In SCAN mode, do not mix TETRA and non-TETRA modes. All frequencies in your SCAN bank should be preset as TETRA (T-DM).
Encryption is not and can never be supported. (Usually governmental operators do use encryption whereas commercial operators don't)

Advice for best performance:
-LEVEL SQUELCH is strongly recommended for Tetra. As the IF bandwidth of Tetra is very large, the “noise squelch” filter is not suitable for that use. (Press and hold the SQL knob for 2 seconds to display SQL settings.)
-It is best to do a “system reset” after loading this firmware (push and hold CLR button when switching receiver ON) after installing the new firmware. Your memory data will stay untouched.
